The Forbidden Sale

Proverbs 23:23 'Sell it not'

When truth is possessed, it must be retained; held fast. However, many times you may be tempted to barter it away, whatever price is offered, the Divine prohibition is, 'sell it not!'

By whom is the truth sold?

Truth is sold by the mercenary minister, the hireling, the one who will do anything for money.
The truth is sold by the false speaker; there is no more degrading habit of mind than that which produces deceit and falsehood. This is the very portrait of the 'wicked one.'  'All liars shall have their place in the lake of fire.'

Truth is sold by; The flatterer; So first we must understand the difference between commendation and flattery. Jesus publicly commended the affection of the woman who had been a sinner; but flattery is the expression of praise beyond what is deserved.

Truth is sold by the backslider; James speaks of 'those who error from the truth.' This was clearly exhibited in Peter when he denied that he knew Jesus.

Now let us look at reasons why we should not sell the truth; Because there is no equivalent to it! If we sell, the bargain is bad. Life itself is not equivalent to the truth. There is no substitute for truth. Truth is the atmosphere of the mind; we cannot live without it, and there is nothing that can supply its place. I've noticed that the sale of truth is always accompanied with the most appalling circumstances. Oh! The price people pay for selling the truth! With the dismissal of truth, peace, comfort, and hope all go with it.

Salvation consists in knowing the truth, walking in truth, and being the children of truth. If we do not hold the truth, then God will not smile. We won't enter into Heaven. The basis of God's eternal throne is truth! 'buy the truth and sell it not'!

Its a privilege to serve you,
