Arms Control

In 1959 when Fidel Castor led a revolt against the dictator Fulgencio Batista, Castor’s strategy was to get the weapons out of the hands of the civilians. So Castro instituted gun control and registration. Then he immediately confiscated every gun on the island. So the result is that for more than fifty years the citizens of Cuba have had no ability to fight against this wicked tyrant.  

The Philistines did the same to Israel. They got rid of all the new swords and spears. If an Israelite needed a farm tool sharpened he had to go down to Gaza and have a Philistine Blacksmith do it for him. Israel lost their freedom when they gave up their blacksmiths and their swords. That’s why none of the people who went to battle with Saul and Jonathon had no swords or spears. How can you win a war without weapons?  

Eph. 6:17 ‘Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.’ This is the weapon that our enemy (satan) wants to confiscate from you! We’re on a spiritual war, and the only way it will be won is by using the ‘word of God.’ This is the ‘spiritual freedom of bearing arms’ that we cannot afford to give up!
